It examines the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and business risk of ‘active’ and ‘potential’ Damage Mechanisms (DMs) to assess and rank failure probability and consequence. This ranking is used to optimize inspection intervals based on site-acceptable risk levels and operating limits, while mitigating risks as appropriate. RBI analysis can be qualitative, quantitative or semi-quantitative in nature.

ARINT SA has therefore developed and implemented the RBO system at ESKOM taking into consideration of the above. The Development was from inception of the project, development of the Asset Management process, training, implementation and assistance at 11 Coal Fired Power Stations in Eskom.

We have been intimately involved in the development of the implementation project, defining the process requirements and assuring the development, implementation and certification to the European RIMAP Standard. Furthermore we have been involved with the deferment studies for Unit Outages to enable the practical implementation of RBI principles during the interim phase until full certification is achieved for all Power Stations.
