TAQA’s roots lie in the provision of power and water desalination capabilities in Abu Dhabi, and this has remained a key part of its business.

TAQA owns a majority interest in eight power generation and water desalination facilities in the United Arab Emirates and provides more than 90 per cent of the Emirate's electricity and water requirements.

Building on its position as an established and trusted utility company, TAQA has expanded its power operations to include six countries outside the UAE: Ghana, India, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United States.

TAQA has a total gross power generation capacity of 17,410 MW and a water desalination capacity of 917 MIGD.

Atrush Block

85 km northwest of Erbil

TAQA holds a majority share in the block, alongside its partners the KRG, General Exploration Partners and Marathon. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) approved TAQA's field development plan in September 2013. Initial production is expected to be approximately 30,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed). Subject to approval, the second phase development is expected to include another 30,000 boepd production facility. TAQA and its partners will also evaluate the feasibility of producing associated natural gas for delivery to the domestic market. TAQA estimates the field's peak production to reach approximately 100,000 boepd.

It consists of oil production (Rijn Field) and natural gas production facilities including a central complex, several satellite production platforms and sub-sea completions. Condensate, oil and natural gas are transported to shore by pipelines. The P15 platform is also an important hub for third party treatment and processing of oil and gas. Fifteen fields in the Dutch North Sea tie-in to P15 to separate, treat and send oil to the BP refinery in the port of Rotterdam and gas directly to the Dutch national grid.

Personnel on board: The facilities are equipped for up to 175 personnel. Installation structure: The installation consists of a 4-legged steel jacket sub-structure, anchored by piles to the seabed. The Module Support Frame (MSF), which is an 8-legged structure attached in one piece to the jacket, acts as a base support for two levels of modules.
