DESEIN provides services from concept to commissioning of fossil fuel fired power plants of unit ratings upto 800 MW. These projects are executed either on an Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) basis or on a Non-EPC basis. In the case of EPC route, the complete project is executed by one or two main contractors. In the other case, project execution is done based on a large number of systems / packages being procured from different vendors / contractors. This requires preparation of well defined specifications and a great amount of coordination between many vendors and contractors to ensure smooth execution of the project within the targeted schedule and budgeted cost.

For any new project, DESEIN initially performs a study to establish techno-economic feasibility of the project. Once the project is found to be feasible, a detailed bankable report is prepared covering most suitable technology options and financial structuring of the project. This report is prepared keeping in view the requirements for obtaining clearances from various government agencies and also to approach financial institutions. Today, there is a serious concern regarding industrial pollution aspects and the necessity to control it. As a part of this, DESEIN carries out a preliminary environmental impact assessment study to identify measures that are required to be implemented as an important part of the project.

Owner's Engineering

At the onset of a project a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers comprising Architectural, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Control & Instrumentation and Environmental will appraise the project and converge their efforts to deliver engineered documentation and drawings.

DESEIN offers the following specific services as Lender's / Independent Engineer:-

Environment Management Division (EMD) plays an important role in development planning for DESEIN. Since inception 25 years ago, EMD has undertaken work in diverse fields of environmental studies. The division is accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Educational Training (NABET) and manned by qualified and experienced engineers / professionals. All professionals have either doctorate or post graduate degree in their respective fields. They are supported in their activities by highly qualified technical & administrative staff. EMD is capable of undertaking complex tasks required for achieving environmental clearance. For specific expertise, EMD has a pool of Consultants on its panel duly accredited by the concerned authority.

DESEIN and its group companies is today among India's leading Operation & Maintenance Service provider for power stations. Desein is successfully handling O&M contracts for all the major SEBs in India as well as for clients abroad.

DESEIN has successfully undertaken and completed O&M contracts for 4x120 MW power plant built by Deutsche Babcock in LIBYA. This job involved handling a very large desalination plant having a capacity of 40,000 m3/day. This contract was for a period of 4 years. The scope of work also included supervision of performance tests on behalf of the Libyan client, training of local O&M personnel. Desein had deputed a team of 215 persons consisting of Engineers, technical and non technical staff to the plant site in Libya.
